Ladue School District Horton Watkins High School Addition & Renovation
The renovation and expansion of Ladue Horton Watkins High School’s 64-year-old main building enhances its ability to support modern teaching methods and improve the learning environment. The updated design features flexible, open spaces for students, faculty, and staff, with classrooms adaptable for STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) programming. These classrooms enable students to explore, create, and apply knowledge in real-world contexts, while the newly designed media center offers a bright atrium and vibrant interior, serving as a hub for both independent study and group collaboration.
Common areas have been reconfigured to improve accessibility, security, and wayfinding, creating a more inclusive, user-friendly environment. The layout is streamlined to connect classrooms more cohesively, enhancing circulation and making the flow of spaces intuitive. Each classroom is now multi-functional, equipped with cutting-edge technology to support diverse teaching styles and foster interactive learning.
The new south entry features modern architectural design with sleek lines and landscaping, creating a welcoming gateway while maintaining the neighborhood’s historical integrity with a complementary brick façade. This renovation significantly enhances the school’s capacity to provide a dynamic, forward-thinking educational experience, offering students and teachers the resources they need to succeed in an innovative and flexible learning environment.
