The Hashan Kehk Community Center, located within the Gila River Community, serves as a multi-generational hub, offering a range of amenities including a fitness center with a gymnasium, an elevated running track, weight room, education spaces, activity rooms, gathering areas, and administrative offices. The name "Hashan Kehk," meaning "standing cactus," inspired many design elements and also represents one of the community's districts.

In designing the center, the team focused on creating a space that reflects the community’s values and enhances its connection to the land. The result is a facility that has earned numerous design awards, including a Distinguished Design Merit from the American Institute of Architects.

The sacred Yellow Peak, visible only to Hashan Kehk families, holds deep significance within the community. The design strategically focuses on views of this revered peak while leveraging the site’s natural contours to amplify the vastness of the land, which is highly valued by the community.

Equally significant is the saguaro cactus, symbolizing strength, longevity, and perseverance. The community holds the saguaro in high esteem, with its colors, needles, and flowers representing cultural values. Traditional homes in the area used the ribs of the saguaro for construction, further highlighting the importance of this iconic plant in their daily lives.
