Florida Gulf Coast University’s new Recreation and Wellness Center provides a transformative space for student life, designed to support the growing needs of the campus community. Replacing the original 9,000 SF facility—which was built for just 4,000 students—the new center spans over 47,000 SF and serves a student body nearly four times that size, along with faculty and staff.

The two-story facility includes a wide range of spaces to support recreation, fitness, and wellness. Key features include a double gymnasium, group fitness and multipurpose rooms, a dedicated strength and fitness area, and a cardio deck. Additional amenities such as an observation concourse, administrative offices, and an exterior event plaza and fitness zone enhance the functionality and flexibility of the center.

The center supports a holistic approach to student wellness by offering inclusive, engaging environments that encourage movement, stress relief, and social connection. Its spacious layout and variety of activity spaces allow for both structured programming and spontaneous use, providing students with opportunities to stay active and build community throughout the day.

By expanding the capacity and reach of campus recreation services, the new facility plays an essential role in enhancing student life and fostering success both inside and outside the classroom.
