Pleasant Grove Elementary School
The new Pleasant Grove Elementary School prioritizes Escambia County Public Schools’ initiative towards next generation learning. Its thoughtfully designed spaces create an optimal atmosphere for delivering the latest teaching methodologies to 800 K-5th grade students. At the heart of the school is the Innovation Center, an energizing hub for fostering collaboration and creativity. Surrounding spaces include 60 classrooms, indoor and outdoor play areas, a multipurpose cafeteria, and administrative offices.
The structure primarily utilizes ICF construction, which helps contribute to the project’s energy efficiency. Brick veneer, metal siding, and standing seam metal roofing were strategically chosen for the building envelope, not only to seamlessly blend with the surrounding context, but also for their low-maintenance qualities and timeless aesthetic appeal. Located on a wooded, wetland-constrained site, the surrounding natural environment provided inspiration for a bright, playful interior design palette.
