Bonita Springs High School
To address the rapid growth in Lee County, the School District’s leadership wanted to re-imagine their Prototypical High School Design to better address the ever changing educational and facility needs. The District chose BSSW Architects to provide them with a 21st-Century High School Prototype that met these challenges. The flagship of this New-Era High School was Bonita Springs High School.
Bonita Springs High School was the first school to utilize the new prototype design, as well as the first public school in the newly established Town of Bonita Springs. The 250,000 SF, three building plan features a two -story academic building at the center, flanked by a dining and athletic facility on one side and an arts center on the other. Each building has a secured entry which ties the campus together and provides for a single point of entry as well as a public access entry, allowing autonomous use of the athletic and performing arts venue.
Project Size: 250,000 square feet
Location: Bonita Springs, FL
Completed: July 1st 2018
With enormous flexibility for site adaptation, the three building composition also provides for three outside courtyards; an arrival plaza, dining courtyard, and an arts/reading garden. The campus includes a full complement of outdoor athletics tracks and sport courts for football, baseball, basketball, soccer, tennis, and track.
